"Pokey" isn't a stage name — it's the nickname I was given at birth. Before I earned a dollar, the name was already mine.
I arrived on the 4th of July, 1977 — the day built for fireworks. Independence isn't a holiday I celebrate once a year; it's the goal I grind toward every day. Financial freedom for me and my family.
I come from El Vista — a small Black community in Port Arthur, Texas. Where I'm from, nobody hands you anything. What El Vista gave me was something better: the blueprint. Watch, work, and take care of your people. That's the hustle I carry everywhere I go.
And hustle? That's not a slogan either. Hustle is my intuitive nature — the instinct to move, build, and figure it out before anyone tells me I can't.
